I feel like I should do a brief update...

My sister doesn't have cancer.  I don't have a job (well, a career more exactly).  I also don't have the internet, or a computer.  I do however have a place to live for at least two months.  So that's good.

Not having the internet keeps this brief.  Maybe someday I'll return to the blog world.  Maybe.

Hey....  So, it's been a while.  I don't have a personal computer or the internet, and I don't live across the street from a computer lab anymore.  Which dramatically cuts down on internet time, especially seemingly unnecessary internet time.  I'm working the overnight shift right now, and I was going to write this really great blog after a long absence from blogging, but no.  It's been a rough night - about 5 minutes before starting my shift I found out my sister probably has cancer.  That seems like a really dramatic statement for a blog, but that's the statement my mind is stuck on, and most of you who read this are Christians and my friends.  I let you know so you can pray for her.  Her name is Rena.  She finds out on Wednesday, but so far all signs point to yes.

Um, after that, the only other thing that seems worth mentioning is that I have an interview this Saturday to be the full time, salaried worship leader at Jacob's Well, a church here in Eau Claire.  I feel really good about getting the job, and I want the interview to go well.

I think that's it for now.

My oh my.

I lost my Nalgene bottle.  For real this time.  I left it at work and when I came back it just wasn't there anymore.  I think one of the other staff must have seen it and then thrown it away.  Speaking euphemistically, it was pretty well used.  I'm not that broken up about it.  I imagine it somewhere off in the nether-regions of the world, and I wonder if someone found it and bleached it and is using it.  After all, I found a water bottle in the river and did just that.  Man, me and my nalgene had some sweet adventures together.  We went to Europe, Mexico, California, Bangladesh and everywhere in between.  And it was magical.

Remember when?  So long, fair honey yellow nalgene.  I will miss you, but you have started for me a legacy of nalgene bottles.  Next in line is...

Glacier blue.  The one in the top left.  I was sorely tempted to either get Raspberry Red or Pretty in Pink (I might get them eventually, as a back up nalge), but I really like the color blue.  I earned almost $200 more than I was expecting to on this paycheck, and so not only did I order this nalgene, but I also got a compass lid as an accessory.  While this nalgene may or may not possess magical properties, it will certainly possess orienteering properties, which could help it return to me faster when I lose it.

It took me over an hour online (I kid you not) to find the kind I wanted, and now that I have I'm pretty excited to get it.  I give it a week or so.  Which reminds me.  I need to return the drum machine I ordered in the next couple of days or I'm stuck with it.  I should do that right now.  See ya.

Right now, I'm closing out what will have been a very busy 60 hour work week.  I was scheduled to work 68 hours though, so I can count my blessings.

This weekend was v-ball at Eau Claire.  When I worked on Friday night, I was explaining to one of my ladies about what v-ball is and she was so interested that we went and drove around campus to see everyone all dressed up.  She and her roommate were so excited about the dresses and the dancing.  So, I took them to my house, did their makeup, and found wrap around skirts and shawls for them to wear.  And then we had a mini dance in my living room; it made me smile a lot.  I was a bit disappointed about not going to the actual ball (any girl who says she wouldn't want to go to a ball is probably lying, even if she doesn't know it) but it was really precious to dance with my ladies.

Right now I'm watching Pretty in Pink at work.  I didn't get that movie the first time I saw it, but I'm enjoying it right now.  It's a cute story, and the fact that it was made in the '80's just makes it phenomenal.  My favorite part so far is when Blane walks into the record store for the first time and sees Andy and the '80's ballad music swells.  I loved it.

I gotta get back before the commercial break is over!

So, it's 5:30 am after a crazy 2 day work marathon.  I watched 2 movies, did a lot of journaling, and only drank 1 soda and one cup of coffee.  I also dropped a plastic spatula onto the heating element in the oven while making a pizza, and panicked while I successfully attempted to take care of it before the fire alarm went off at the group home at 3:30 in the morning.  I asked people to pray that I would get one of my shifts off so that I could sleep, and that ended up happening, so I had a 5 hour nap on Wednesday evening.  Otherwise, I would have been awake since Tuesday morning.

I asked people to pray that I would get one of my shifts off so that I could sleep, and that ended up happening.  That was really cool.  Because of that, I also realized (or more remembered, because I already knew this) that I tend to be great with trusting God and praying expectantly for the little things, but when it comes to big things it's a lot harder.  I think that's normal, but at the same time I bet I'd have a lot more examples of huge miracles if only I gave God the opportunity to work them.

Another thing that I learned through my work marathon is that just because I have more free time as a result of not being in school doesn't mean that I should fill it with constant activity - specifically planned activity.  One of the houses I work at is short staffed right now, and I appreciate both the paycheck and the feeling that comes with being helpful.  But that doesn't mean it's a good thing.  I don't enjoy life as much.  And I'm already feeling a little lonely from not really interacting with people since Tuesday night.

Kinda random, picture-less blog.  I said I'd update, so I did.  Also, I'm really tired.  But I did learn things.  And now you know.
